Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: correspondence via C between the Prime Minister (PM) and Air Chief Marshal Tedder, concerning item 2265/T35 of March 14, see 2592; the report is of a German claim to have shot down 14 out of 18 U.S. fighters; Tedder replies that 7 out of 14 U.S. Aircobras were lost and that escorting U.S. Spitfires were ineffective; and that British personnel were now advising U.S. aviators and it was hoped that such incidents would not be repeated.
