Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following report on North Africa: of a request from the Director of the German Air Force (GAF) Signals Organisation dated March 14, that all GAF units are to examine their radio measuring instruments, tools and testing devices and determine which equipment can be released to Radio Direction Finder (RDF) and the signals industry which had suffered severe losses of such equipment as a result of Allied air raids, with all replies being required by March 18; the Prime Minister (PM) annotates the above item with a request to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) asking where the factories would be that had been hit by Allied air raids; C passes on the query to the Assistant Chief of Air Staff Intelligence (ACASI) who delegates to the CAS; the Deputy Director of Intelligence 3 (DDI3) subsequently drafts a detailed reply on March 16 for the CAS, C and the PM.
