Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that Kesselring institutes a court martial over a negligent escort for merchant ships, on March 7; and that an Axis unit is withdrawing in the Medenine area, on March 7; on the Atlantic: that the German Air Force (GAF) at Lofoten is to reconnoitre for Paderborn, possibly connected with the Scharnhorst's operation, on March 7; on Germany: that the GAF requires lists of bomber crews with qualifications for operations against England, on March 7; Naval Headlines, covering Axis losses on the North Africa run; that Italian troops are moving to Crete; and that an Allied convoy is en route to Oran and Algiers; from the Japanese ambassador in Kuibyshev, on German reverses and the growth in Soviet skill and confidence on the Russian fronts, on February 20; and from the Roumanian minister in Rome, noting the arrival of Goering in Rome, on March 6.
