A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a German secret service report from Romania, for February 9, stating that a Russian build up in the Soviet western Arctic is to break up the Finnish Front and support impending Allied landings in northern Norway; on North Africa: that a supply ship with supplies for the 21st Panzer Division was sunk by an Allied submarine, on February 16; of a German secret service request from Berlin to Madrid for information on preparations for assembling an Allied amphibious force in southern England, on February 16; a reply sent on February 17 giving details with possible Canadian troop involvement mentioned; and a further German secret service request from Berlin to Madrid for confirmation that an Allied landing force was assembling in French North African harbours, on February 17; that an Axis supply ship was sunk by an Allied submarine on February 17; and that a named commander of the Allied Long Range Desert Group provides details to the Germans of the role and composition of his unit, on February 18.
