Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa/the Mediterranean: of German Air Force (GAF) contingency measures for the protection of Sardinia; and that Axis tanks entered Sbeitla, on February 17, with GAF air support being requested; on the Russian Front: that Russian forces continue to advance towards Aleksaevka, on February 16; Naval Headlines; from the French minister in Sofia, on the progress of the war, in French, from February 13; from the Japanese ambassador in Vichy, regarding the attitude of the French population towards the Germans following Russian successes on the Eastern Front, and on the question of German support for the Laval government, on February 12; and from the Turkish chargé in Kuibyshev, on discussions with the Japanese ambassador on February 10 on Japanese/Russian relations and Japanese concern over the possibility of a Russian attack.
