This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: of the German Air Force's (GAF's) operational orders for February 15; that an attack against Bou Zid was a complete success; that reconnaissances are ordered for the road from Faid-Sbeitla-Kasserine; the Italian General Calvi, of the Centauro Division, reports that the Allies are apparently evacuating Gafsa, on February 15; a German intelligence agent reports that Allied assault troops are assembling with landing gear in Algiers and Eastern harbours with intended operational areas of south-west Italy, Sicily and Sardinia, on February 14; a GAF situation report for February 15, stating that Allied forces with armour are 10 km from Gardane; and detailing strong Allied air activity over the battle area of the 10th and 21st Panzer Divisions; on Western Europe: a report from the Commander in Chief (CinC) of the GAF in Berlin of an Allied landing on the southern coast of Norway, on February 15; on the Russian Front: a 4th Air Fleet report of Soviet forces being 2 km north of Kharkov, on February 15; that German forces were withdrawn to a line immediately west of Taganrog, on February 14; and of orders for the demolition of harbour installations at Novorossisk, on February 13. This file also includes messages from the Italian ambassador in Tokyo, describing a serious Japanese tonnage shortage, on February 10; and from the Irish minister in Rome on the Italian situation, as of February 11.
