Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Europe: a report of damage dealt in an air raid on Wilhelmshaven on February 11; on the Russian Front: of the development of Taman airfield; and of the scale of the evacuation from the Taman Peninsula, on February 11; Naval Headlines, that U-boats in the area north and north east of the Canaries were alerted to a north-bound Gibraltar convoy; and that naval and air forces in Corsica and Sardinia were put on alert by the Italian Admiralty who are expecting Allied naval movements off Sardinia; from the Japanese minister in Lisbon, that the Italians are expecting an Allied invasion of South Italy and the Balkans within five weeks, as of February 10; from the Turkish ambassador in Rome, giving Italian views on the Adana meeting, from February 8; and from the Turkish minister in Madrid on Spanish internal problems, including approaches to Franco by Don Juan's representative, on February 10.
