This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that Italian troops from Tripoli previously subordinated to the Panzer Army, are to be combined in a Sahara Group under Mannerini, on January 26; that because of the postponement of landing ship convoys, the Panzer Army under Rommel is to attempt to hold on to Zuara on January 28; that the 90th Light Division was ordered to hold Zuara until early on January 29; a German Air Force (GAF) report for January 27, that the Allies are advancing along the coastal road west of Sabratha, with a few armoured cars near Giado and Gasr Buhad; of Kesselring's orders for GAF support of Rommel's delaying actions forward of the Mareth position, on January 27; that the 21st Panzer Division assembled in the Final Area, on the evening of January 26; of Calvi's intention to take El Guetar in the next few days; that the Germans consider that Gafsa could be taken with armour and artillery, on January 27; a 5th Panzer Army situation report for January 26: that the 21st Panzer Division has arrived in the area west of Sfax; of lively Allied activity near Medjez El Bab; and an appreciation of Allied intentions; a German intelligence situation report for January 25: on the subordination of the 2nd American Army Corps; giving confirmation of the location of the French Division Algiers north-west and west of Pichon; and making claims of more than 3,000 Allied PoWs being taken in fighting south of Pont du Fahs; on the Russian Front: a report from the 4th Air Fleet on January 26, stating that the right wing of the 4th Panzer Army was confronted by two new Soviet divisions; and Naval Headlines, covering U-boat patrols in the North Atlantic, and convoys due in Bizerta.
