This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of Hitler's orders to Rommel to hold up the Allied advance despite the strained supply position, on January 18; a Panzer Army day report for January 19, confirming that an Allied attack south of Tarhuna was held up, a further attack expected is later, and the German fuel situation is critical; and that fuel due to be unloaded at Zuara is to be sent back to Sfax asap, on January 20; on the Mediterranean: a report of a German Air Force (GAF) attack on a convoy off the Algerian coast, on January 20; on the Russian Front: a GAF Group Caucasus report for January 20; that Soviet forces are advancing within 20 miles of Armavir on January 20; a 4th Air fleet report for January 20, stating that Soviet forces are 6 miles south of Rostov; and of General Richthofen's orders for January 21; from the Japanese minister in Sofia, on German policy towards Turkey as of January 21; and from the Japanese ambassador in Ankara, on Arab and White Russian distrust of German intentions, on January 15.
