Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a German Air Force (GAF) report on January 15, stating that the expected Allied offensive had not materialised; that the headquarters (HQ) of the Panzer Army under Rommel is to move to Beni Ulid; of orders from Mussolini approving Rommel's intention to stick to the agreed time scale for withdrawal, with an estimated two months needed for the preparation of defence positions south of Gabes; that the Panzer Army under Rommel is to begin retiring from the Buerat position, on January 15; and that the German Naval Command in Rome expect an Allied attack on January 16; and on the Russian Front: that Soviet forces are in occupation of a point 22 miles east of Rostov, on January 15.
