This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that the German Air Force's (GAF's) intentions for January 14 are to invest Sened and destroy railway installations using paratroops; that the Italians evacuated Macnassy, on January 13; that the German naval authorities are to hold a conference on the demolition and blocking of Tripoli harbour in the event of an evacuation, on January 16; a Panzer Division under Rommel day report for January 13; that the move of the 21st Panzer Division to the area immediately to the east of Tripoli is to be completed by January 14, in view of the expected Allied attack; that the Pistoia Division is to move back from the front; that the 21st Panzer Division was ordered to hand over a good part of its tanks, artillery and other material to the 15th Panzer Division; a German intelligence estimate of the Allied forces in French North Africa, as of January 12; and that the GAF are preparing for a large-scale air raid on Youks les Bains and Telepte under the direction of General Harlinghausen, on January 15; on the Russian Front: a 4th Air Fleet situation report for January 14 giving the front line of the 6th Army; and a German Naval Liaison Officer reports the situation around Rostov, on January 11; from the Japanese acting ambassador in Rome, a preliminary report of a meeting of German and Italian leaders at Hitler's HQ, stating that the Axis expect the Allies to attack Syria and the Balkans next; and from the Japanese minister in Lisbon, an Italian account of a military agreement between Spain and Portugal, from January 6.
