Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file contains a message from C to the Prime Minister (PM); and the following reports on North Africa: that a patrol of the Hon garrison was attacked by Allied forces near Bir Gteifa; that the Libyan garrison of Sciuref went over to the Allies on being attacked; and that troops still at Hon are to retire on Mizda, on January 10; on Southern Russia: that scattered flak units are to be amalgamated into efficient fighting units, on January 10; on the Mediterranean: a report from Elmas of a successful air attack on an Allied convoy on January 7, identified as convoys KMS6 and KMS5 by the First Sea Lord (ISL) in response to a query from the PM; Naval Headlines, covering that the Scharnhorst and Prinz Eugen left Gdynia for Norwegian waters, on January 9; that the French Admiral Robert at Bearn undertook to prevent French shipping, aircraft or gold falling into the Allies' hands, on January 8; that shipping with cargoes of war materials is gathering in Tripoli awaiting escorts, on January 10; and that Italian MAS boats and pocket submarines in the Black Sea may be handed over to the Germans, and their crews repatriated.
