A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: the German Air Force (GAF) report an attack on Gafsa, on January 2; that lorries are required to remove GAF stores from Kala Srira, on January 1; that the GAF KG26 bomber group is to transfer to Heraklion on January 3 for attacks on convoys along the North African coast; a GAF report for January 2, including locations of elements of the 8th Army; and that the enemy has dispersed to avoid bombing; and a GAF Africa evening report for January 2 noting increased enemy air activity; on the Russian Front: a GAF report on the ground situation for January 2, detailing powerful Soviet attacks in the north; on the Southern Russian Front: that the GAF are reluctant to obey Hitler's order to transfer fighter and Stuka groups to the Stalingrad area, on January 2; and a minute from the Prime Minister (PM) to C complaining about the paraphrasing of reports (see also 1950).
