Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: an evening report from the German Air Force (GAF) in Africa for December 31, including their intentions, being to provide fighter protection of the Panzer Army; that the GAF in Tunis orders a heavy raid on Bone harbour for January 1; of an Axis warning of an Allied naval force from Gibraltar moving to attack the Bizerta area, on December 31; of the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) in Chief South's intelligence on Gafsa, Tunisia, for December 31; and that the German Navy orders the laying of limited minefields off Bizerta-Philippeville, on December 30; on Crete: that GAF Ju88s were destroyed and damaged in a night attack on Heraklion, on the night of December 30-31; and a GAF report on the raid on Heraklion, from December 31; on the Southern Russian Front: the GAF report Soviet advances, on December 31; and on arrangements for the supply by air of the German 6th Army, on December 31; and on the Russian fronts: on the ground situation up to the morning of December 31.
