Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a German Air Force (GAF) report on operations in Libya for December 30; of the intentions of a recce unit of the Panzer Army under Rommel for December 30 with a simultaneous attack by Centauro; that the Germans consider the Martlet fighter to be inferior to the Messerschmidt 109 but highly manoeuvrable, on December 30; the Japanese Foreign Minister in Tokyo reports his views of the recent war developments, on December 7; from the Japanese consul-general in Vienna, the views of Lieutenant General Gautier on the war situation, as of December 26; from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the views of the Turkish minister in Bucharest on Bulgarian and Slav movements, from December 28; from the Turkish charg� d'affaires in Kuibyshev, on Russian offensive plans, from December 29; from the Turkish ambassador in Tokyo, on the Japanese desire for peace, on December 29; and Naval Headlines for December 30.
