Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: Kesselring reports that an Allied offensive is intended simultaneously against Tunis and Italy in early January 1943, on December 25; on the Russian Front: that the Germans are withdrawing; Naval Headlines for December 25; from the Foreign Minister in Tokyo, giving views on Franco-German relations and the Russian Front, on December 7; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, on Axis policy towards France and Spain, on December 22; and from the Spanish ambassador in Washington, on rumours of Churchill's presence there, on December 23.
