This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a German Air Force (GAF) report for December 20, stating that Allied aircraft were shot down while attacking the Panzer Army; this file also includes the following messages: from the Japanese minister in Stockholm, that an Soviet all-women fighting unit was included in the forces brought up to Stalingrad in preparation for the winter campaign and on Soviet production capacity, on December 10; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, relating German wishes regarding Japanese intentions in the Indian Ocean; and describing a discussion with Ribbentrop on a Japanese appeal for steel and aluminium on December 12; from the Turkish ambassador in Vichy, of Spanish anxieties over the progress of the war, on December 17; and from the Turkish ambassador in Tokyo, on a rumour of a Spanish-Portuguese defence agreement, on December 18.
