Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a German Air Force (GAF) report for December 20, stating that Allied aircraft were shot down while attacking the Panzer Army; this file also includes the following messages: from the Japanese minister in Stockholm, that an Soviet all-women fighting unit was included in the forces brought up to Stalingrad in preparation for the winter campaign and on Soviet production capacity, on December 10; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, relating German wishes regarding Japanese intentions in the Indian Ocean; and describing a discussion with Ribbentrop on a Japanese appeal for steel and aluminium on December 12; from the Turkish ambassador in Vichy, of Spanish anxieties over the progress of the war, on December 17; and from the Turkish ambassador in Tokyo, on a rumour of a Spanish-Portuguese defence agreement, on December 18.
