Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a Panzer Army report for December 19; air reports of Allied movements; an assessment of Allied preparations for a westward thrust; that German rear-guard forces are being gradually withdrawn behind the position of the Africa Corps near Sirte; that the Berat position is being developed for defence; of German Air Force (GAF) difficulties in their heavy fighter escort duties in the Tripoli area on December 19; that dive bomber units in Pantelleria are to be ready at an hour's notice for transferring to Tunis, on December 19; the German secret service report that an Allied landing force left Benghazi, on December 17; and the GAF was ordered that reports of operations against battleships and aircraft carriers be prepared for passing on to the Japanese, on December 20.
