This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a Panzer Army report for December 19; air reports of Allied movements; an assessment of Allied preparations for a westward thrust; that German rear-guard forces are being gradually withdrawn behind the position of the Africa Corps near Sirte; that the Berat position is being developed for defence; of German Air Force (GAF) difficulties in their heavy fighter escort duties in the Tripoli area on December 19; that dive bomber units in Pantelleria are to be ready at an hour's notice for transferring to Tunis, on December 19; the German secret service report that an Allied landing force left Benghazi, on December 17; and the GAF was ordered that reports of operations against battleships and aircraft carriers be prepared for passing on to the Japanese, on December 20.
