This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a German Air Force (GAF) report for December 19; that the Africa Corps is concentrated round Sirte; that Allied forces are in occupation of Arco and Merduna, and around Nofilia; and a summary of the aircraft that are available for operations; Naval Headlines, covering the Luetzow being anchored in Kaafjord, and accompanied by the destroyers Karl Galster, Theodor Riedel and 'Z 31' on December 18; that the Giusseppe Leva carrying fuel for the German Army was to arrive at Sousse on December 17; and that it was severely damaged in an air raid, on December 18-19; that the German naval authorities at Toulon were authorised to remove all weapons needed from sunken French ships, on December 12; that the Italians learned of the sailing of an Allied landing force from Benghazi, on December 19; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, relating Ribbentrop's comments on the progress of the war in Russia and North Africa, and on the industrial capacities of the Allies and Germany, on December 12; from the Japanese ambassador in Ankara, giving views on German strategy and capabilities, on December 16; and from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, of a conversation with Ribbentrop on the progress of the war in Africa and Russia and policy towards Spain and France, on December 17.
