Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: by the German Naval Command in Rome, an appreciation of the situation on December 18; that the Africa Corps has been enveloped by Allied forces south of Nofilla, and is incapable of action because of a lack of fuel; that Kesselring orders the German Air Force (GAF) to give up fuel to the Panzer Army, on December 18; and the Panzer Army states its supplies requirements for the defence of Buerat, on December 14; on Tunisia: a GAF report for December 18; that there are one hundred and eight serviceable tanks; of a complaint from the 90th Army Corps about inadequate flak protection; and an urgent call for fighters from Sicily; and that supplies and reinforcements that were brought in by air are insufficient; on the Russian Front: a report for December 16, stating that the 1st Panzer Army is under heavy attack; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, relaying Ribbentrop's comments on Allied and German industrial capacity on December 12; reporting the transfer of power from Petain to Laval in France and the organisation and strength of the new French Army that Germany intended to create; and Japanese interest in the disposal of French possessions in east Asia, on December 12; from the Brazilian minister in Berne, giving a central European industrialist's views on the European subversive movement, on German readiness to invade Turkey and on the risk to Switzerland, on December 16; and from the Japanese ambassador in Rome, commenting on the Axis strategy in North Africa, on December 17.
