Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Tunisia: a summary of ground and air operations for December 15; a German Air Force (GAF) report for December 17, that Allied forces are advancing beyond Nofilla, and that the Africa Corps is covering the German retreat; on the Mediterranean: of the requirements for guarding airfields in Crete on December 16; and a survey of the sea situation, on December 17; on North Africa: of Italian allegations of pro-Axis arabs being shot by the French Gendarmerie in Tunisia, on December 15; that flak weapons are being removed from airfields for use in ground fighting, on December 17; on North Africa: that the successful withdrawal of German motorised formations to the west of Norfilla has been completed, on December 16; that all formations were immobilised for lack of fuel; the Panzer Army's morning report for December 16; that the Chasseurs d'Afrique have been transferred to Kriz from Tebessa together with the infantry on December 17; that U.S. troops are expected at Tozeur; a report of fuel stocks and consumption for December 17; of Kesselring's order that Flak forces are not to be withdrawn without permission, on December 17; a German Y service report that the Allies are urgently seeking Italian uniforms for armoured forces, on December 14; a German assessment from PoWs of the Allied front line forces; and the impending arrival of U.S. forces; and Kesselring seeks confirmation of an auxiliary direction finding station report on Allied tanks, on December 17.
