Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: that the Etruria and Roselli have been loaded with fuel, ammunition, rations and supplies for Tunis, on December 14; that a U-boat damaged in an air attack is making for Spezia, on December 14; that no loading space is available in Gabes for the remaining fuel for despatch to Tripolitania, on December 16; that fuel and rations are expected to be delivered to Sousse on December 15 and 18; that the German 3rd Motor Boat Flotilla has been warned to reduce its stay in neighbouring waters to a minimum because of the lack of air protection; an unloading report from Tripoli for December 16; and of the German Naval Command in Italy informing the Naval Command in Tunisia of expected arrivals bringing reinforcements, rations and supplies, on December 16.
