Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Russian Front: a report on fighting in the Caucasus, noting that floods are hindering supplies, and the physical condition of the troops is deteriorating markedly, as of December 1; an intelligence summary for December 2; on North Africa: of an aircraft fuel shortage at Tripoli, on December 1-2; that the German Air Force (GAF) are to withdraw 250 men from west of Tripoli, on December 2; that operations by GAF units in Libya are limited by the strained fuel situation on December 2; of hospital ship movements and requests for December 2; on North Africa: of a request for vaccine to be sent urgently to Gabes in Tunisia on December 1; that a merchant ship carrying 24 tanks is en route to Tunisia on December 2; that the German Naval Command in Rome is aware of an Allied landing north-west of Bizerta on November 30-December 1, and December 2; that Sfax harbour in Tunisia was blocked by a sunken dredger on December 1; that a parachutist sabotage operation did not take place owing to bad weather, on December 1; that the GAF intended to occupy Zargur airfield on December 2; on the strength of the German forces in Gabes in Tunisia, on December 1; and that the Germans consider it necessary to supply traffic with small ships between Gabes and Tunis as soon as possible, on December 2; a general naval report for December 2, including an attack by British naval units on an Axis convoy north-east of Bizerta on December 1; on the Mediterranean: on the possibility of impending Allied raids/landing operations, on November 30; on the Southern Russian Front: heavy floods are reported in the Tuapse area, on November 30; and that supplies were dropped by transport aircraft on the German 6th Army, on November 30.
