This file includes the following reports on the Russian Front: that the German Air Force (GAF) Don command was ordered to attack day and night in spite of only having weak forces available, on November 29; that their targets are to be Russian troop movements near the front in the Pavlovsk area; and they are to receive bomber reinforcements and crews to assist in the task; Italian and Hungarian air force units were urged to support the German effort; Naval Headlines; from the Turkish ambassador in Rome, giving Italian views on the future progress of the war and the internal political situation; from the Japanese ambassador in Ankara, describing discussions with the German ambassador in Ankara on the possibility of Turkey entering the war, on November 25; from the Japanese representative in the Vatican, a summary of a discussion with the Hungarian minister on November 26, describing speculation on the influence of the Vatican on the war and the likely progress of the war; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, relaying urgent instructions from Tokyo on a future shipment by the Germans of 45,000 tons of steel; and from the Turkish ambassador in Vichy, reporting discussions in Vichy with German and Japanese representatives on the French internal situation and the progress of the war in North Africa, on November 26.
