Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that road and rail bridges are to be destroyed on the Bone-Tebessa line to delay the Allied advance, on November 27; that Kesselring is to attend a conference at Bizerta with Admiral Weichold, on November 28; on North Africa: that the German ground forces call for air support to attack Allied forces in the Tebourba area, on November 28; that a German unit is arriving in Tripoli on November 29 to carry out a special mission; of an Allied major push against Marsa El Brega, on November 26; that German forces are in retreat and unlikely to hold out, from Gabes towards Tripoli; that German troops are to be pushed forward to the Tunisian Frontier; Kesselring informs Admiral Weichold at Bizerta that he will be arriving on November 28 and that German and Italian vessels must prevent any attempt by French destroyers to leave port; that a large Axis supply convoy with troops and fuel is to leave Palermo on November 30 for Tunis and Bizerta, and is expected to arrive on December 1; and from the Japanese acting ambassador in Rome, reporting Italian views on Tunisia and the effects of Allied propaganda.
