Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that Kesselring's chief quartermaster gives express instructions for the protection and exploitation of Bizerta and Tunis harbours which are to be used for supplying Rommel, on November 23; that the Italian colony is to provide 2000 labourers for ports and Jews to be used for labour service; that supplies for the Panzer Army are to be sent on by rail and road to Gabes and Tripoli; a Panzer Army situation report for November 23; a detailed German intelligence report for November 22 with sections covering Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, the convoy situation and French west Africa; on Romania/the Black Sea: that German workmen are to be withdrawn from the construction of Romanian submarines and sent to Galatz to speed up the construction of German submarines U-18 and U-20, on November 22; and of doubts about Romanian loyalty to the Axis cause and considerations that Romanian submarines will not aid German operations in the Black Sea area.
