Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that Rommel annoys Bastico, the new Commander in Chief (C-in-C) for Tunisia, by sending De Stefanis direct to Rome, attempting to bypass Bastico, on November 20; Naval Headlines; the Japanese minister in Rome sends a report to the Japanese minister in Lisbon of a meeting with the Italian Foreign Minister on November 15, describing continued harmony between Italy and Germany, their future plan being to check the Allies on the border between Cyrenaica and Tripolitania and make Tunis the base for a counter-attack; and from the Japanese chargé in Rome, regarding gloom in Italy on the progress of the war, on November 19.
