Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: the Panzer Army chief quartermaster reports the successful evacuation of stores from Benghazi, on November 18; of the successful withdrawal of troops from Benghazi, which is to be evacuated on the night of November 18-19; of a grave shortage of fuel; that the Panzer Army request the German Air Force (GAF) to fly fuel to the Young Fascists, on November 18; reports from the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) representative in Monrovia, for November 18 (extract); Naval Headlines, covering Mediterranean shipping; from the Portuguese minister in Tokyo on Japanese pessimism regarding the war, on November 18; from the Spanish ambassador in London, about the possibility of Spain being involved in the war, on November 16; from the Turkish consul in Moscow on the Soviet situation, on November 16; from the Turkish ambassador in Rome on North African operations, on November 16; and from the Turkish minister in Madrid, on the Spanish attitude towards the events in North Africa, on November 18.
