This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of a directive from Kesselring to the German Air Force (GAF) for support of the Panzer Army which cannot otherwise hold its planned position; that the Italian ships Monginevro and Sestriere are loaded with supplies for Bizerta; that sea transport is urgently requested by the Panzer Army for the evacuation of Benghazi; that the GAF aviation fuel stocks in the Arco area are only enough for one day's operations, as of November 16; that the Ground Officer Commanding (GOC) the Panzer Army ordered all Siebel ferries and landing craft in Ras El Ali to go to Benghazi; of the Panzer Army's intention to defer the passing of its rearguard through Benghazi until November 19; that the Allied advance was apparently hindered by rain and mines; that fuel shortages are rendering German troops almost incapable of movement; and that ammunition replenishment is urgently needed; and on Tunisia: a CX report, that the area around Tunis is occupied by Axis forces, as of November 16 (an extract).
