Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: that French naval forces at Toulon are at three hours' readiness, on November 15; a German situation report for the Russian fronts, North Africa and France; on Northwest Africa: that building a bridgehead in Tunisia was given the codename BRAUN, on November 13; on France: the German secret service report Petain's request to Hitler for the release of Weygand on November 15; that this was not granted because of the French policy of neutrality in North Africa; and on a law to make Darlan the successor to Petain; Naval Headlines, covering that the Nuernberg left the Baltic for a Norwegian port on November 13; that the submarine Micca is carrying fuel and due in Tripoli on November 17; and an increase in the number of U-boats in the Black Sea.
