This file includes the following reports on North Africa: Hitler orders the German Air Force (GAF) to impede the British from cutting off Rommel's retreat, on November 12; from a senior GAF officer in Tunis on the occupation of Tunisia, on November 12; that German forces had to begin the immediate occupation of Tunis, with action to be taken to prevent the destruction of arms, equipment and supplies by the French, on November 13; that a German division was ordered to carry out reconnaissance in Tunisia, on November 13; and from the Japanese minister in Sofia, relaying Bulgarian intelligence that Italian Army leaders plan to make peace with the Allies, and Slovakian information that Mussolini is avoiding an anti-Jewish policy, on November 5.
