This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of the German Air Force's (GAF's) plans to attack an Allied convoy landing at Philippeville on November 10, with Algiers to be attacked as an alternative target; that the French Naval Command at Oran is to scuttle merchant ships to block the harbour, with Allied forces moving in on the town, on November 9; that GAF fuel supply flights to Tobruk are to end on November 9 and transport aircraft are to start flying out equipment and ammunition at the start of the evacuation, with supply ships to be routed to Benghazi or Tripoli instead of Tobruk; of GAF plans for November 10, including to attack an Allied landing force or Allied ships off Algiers, and to watch for an Allied landing force off Tunis; that Allied convoys were sighted east of Algiers on November 9; on details of GAF deployments to Tunis; that GAF plans for November 10 changed, to the main attack to be against Allied ships unloading at Algiers; that GAF units are to withdraw to Benghazi on November 9; that auxiliary vessels at Tripoli are to sail to Benghazi for the possible removal of materials, on November 9; that a new GAF organisation is to come into force with airfields at Agheila, Arco, Merduma and Nofilia, on November 9; that the GAF are preparing to evacuate equipment from Benghazi to Tripoli, on November 9; that the Germans are preparing to establish a new sea transport HQ at Tunis, on November 8; that Tobruk and the combat zone are expected to be without ammunition on November 10, with supplies to be flown in from Derna and Benghazi; and of a general order from Goering, comprising an admonition of GAF fighter pilots and a call to save German honour.
