A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of the Germans' intention to attack the Allied naval forces off Algiers with all available torpedo aircraft on the morning of November 9; that the Allied attack against Casablanca resulted in heavy French losses on November 9; on the Allied landings at Safi, Port Lyautey and Fedhala; that the remaining French aircraft are ordered to attack the Fedhala bridgehead; that disabled French naval vessels are to sail from Casablanca to Dakar; that the French Admiralty are aware that apart from events at Blida, perfect discipline has continued among both troops and civilians, and no attacks had been reported from Tunisia, as of November 8; from the Turkish ambassador in Vichy, that the former French air minister came to Tunis on November 5 to prepare Tunis against an Allied air attack; and several German divisions moved to Besancon in the occupied zone on November 6 (an extract).
