A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that German and Italian landing craft are carrying prisoners, ammunition and Panzer spares from Matruh to Tobruk, on November 5; that the Italians were attacked and their service cipher documents captured on November 4; that a Panzer survey unit was attacked by Italian aircraft south of Fuka; that cargoes are being discharged at Tobruk; of German Air Force (GAF) aircraft serviceability problems; that orders for the evacuation of El Daba and the destruction of the water supply and the railway are expected; of maximum GAF operations against Allied forces on November 5; of withdrawal orders for GAF units; that the Italian Pistoia Division occupying the Halfaya-Capuzzo area is seeking German cooperation; on North Africa: that Mersa Matruh is being evacuated by the Germans on November 6, including the German naval orders covering the withdrawal; and that Ju88 night fighters are being transferred to Eleusis for attachment to the 10th Air Corps for convoy escort duties.
