A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean area: that Naval Command in the Dodecanese was informed of an Allied convoy believed to intend a landing on the Aegean Islands, on November 5; that the hospital ship Citta di Trapani is en route from Naples to Matruh, on November 3; of arrivals in Benghazi and Tobruk, and an air raid on Benghazi, on November 4; and that two landing craft left Derna for Tobruk carrying fuel and ammunition; on North Africa: that the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) in Chief South Fighter Group consisting of Me109 F4 aircraft without auxiliary tanks is transferring to Tobruk, on November 5; that Ju52 aircraft from Tobruk are to retrieve German Air Force (GAF) and motor transport equipment from the operational area on November 6; that the northern sector of the holding line is being reinforced, under continuous Allied air raids and artillery bombardments; that the Italians were asked to undertake the protection of Tobruk harbour, on November 5; that Goering orders no flak guns to be abandoned; that anti-aircraft guns are to be used for ground support; on North Africa: that anti-tank guns are to be used only against tanks which have broken through; of the aviation fuel consumption rates for air transport; that improvements in off-loading at Benghazi have been made possible by stopping harbour construction work; of air raid damage at Tobruk, Maleme and El Adem; and that German and Italian landing craft are to leave Tobruk for Matruh on November 4; on the Russian Front: that the Close Reconnaissance Group has been transferred from Maikop to the north east of Polotsk to support the 11th Army, on November 4; on the ferrying of aircraft; that fuel and ammunition arrived at Tobruk on November 4; and that an experimental detachment with heavy projectors and ammunition is en route for Africa.
