Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of a successful German counter attack; of heavy losses but successes, with supply ships being sunk; that a Panzer regiment is to withdraw on the night of November 1-2; that the 90th Light Division are meeting strong resistance, on October 31; that the German Air Force (GAF) are to move a fighter group to Tobruk, on November 2; and that Rommel has been informed of General Montgomery's view of him, on October 3; on the Mediterranean: that a supply ship en route to Tobruk was sunk on November 1; and that an Axis convoy is en route to Tobruk on November 1.
