Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following correspondence: a response to the Prime Minister's (PM's) query relating to German and Italian strengths in North Africa, see 1160; this file also includes the following reports on North Africa: that all convoys and landing craft are being attacked by Allied aircraft, on October 25-26; a report for October 26 from the German Air Force (GAF); of Allied air attacks on Tobruk, and of movement orders for the Panzer Army to cover the Allied front; a GAF summary of October 26 and their intentions for October 27; that the Tergestea was sunk in an Allied air attack off Tobruk, and that FREYA equipment failed to pick up the approach of the aircraft; that the GAF are preparing for a possible Gibraltar-Malta convoy; that the tanker Proserpina en route to North Africa is on fire; and that Kesselring is to visit the 10th Air Corps in Crete; on Western Europe: of GAF operations against Lincoln and Hull; and a German naval summary, covering the Baltic, Norway, the North Sea, the Channel-Atlantic coast, the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Atlantic, and that the Scheer and the Tirpitz have arrived at Trondheim.
