Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: the Panzer Army's report of the Allied offensive on the Alamein front; of the 2nd Air Corps' operations in the Mediterranean; of an Allied air raid on Milan on October 24-25; of the recovery of Stumme's body on October 25 (see 1164, 1166 and 1193); and that Rommel is back in command of the German Army; on the Mediterranean: that the Italian Navy are expecting large-scale Allied operations, on October 22; a German Air Force (GAF) report of activities on October 24-25, noting that strong Allied forces are approaching south of Alamein; and that the Panzer Army regards the defence and retention of Himeimat as vital; the Japanese ambassador in Berlin comments on German High Command, and the war situation, on October 20; and the Japanese ambassador in Ankara comments on the Russian war, on October 26.
