Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that following the wounding and disappearance of Stumme (see 1164, 1169 and 1193), von Thoma has been appointed to command the German and Italian Panzer Army, and Hitler is considering sending Rommel back to Africa; a list of the ration and battle strengths of German divisions and strengths of the German emergency defence units as at October 20; that Arabs in the forward area are to be evacuated, and are reported to have helped Allied commandos and escaped PoWs, on October 23.
