Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of an order for the economic use of ammunition during any lull on October 8; that the German Air Force (GAF) deduce from increased Allied air raids that an Allied offensive or sabotage attacks are imminent, on October 9; that the Italian Supreme Command believes the Allied offensive is to begin on October 10; Naval Headlines; from the Portuguese ambassador in Rio de Janeiro, of a campaign supporting an attack on Dakar from Brazilian territory, on October 7; of Japanese anxiety concerning the Germans in Japan and China calling for the Japanese to fight against Russia, with intentions to control the rumours in Shanghai on October 6; that the Turkish Foreign Ministry informs its ambassador in London of a meeting between President Inonu and His Majesty's ambassador on October 5; from the Japanese ambassador in Bangkok on Siamese flood damage, from September 29; and the Spanish ambassador in London assesses the prospects for a second front on October 2 and 5.
