Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: Naval Headlines of October 10, covering a small Allied commando raid on Sark on October 4; that Tobruk harbour was temporarily closed by mines on October 4; from the Japanese minister in Madrid, reports of September 25 and 28, on rumours of a build up of U.S. forces in the U.K., on preparations for landings on the coast of Europe, on a landing by Brazilian forces on Dakar, on activities in New York harbour, and on sailings from U.S. ports; the Portuguese consul in Recife reports plans to set up a free government of Portuguese emigr�s in the event of an Axis invasion of Dakar and Cape Verde on October 2; the Turkish minister in Copenhagen comments on strained relations between Denmark and Germany, on October 2; on the Russian Front: that the admiral commanding the Black Sea battle HQ is to stop sending landing craft to the Caspian, on October 5; on the posting of a German military attach� to Buenos Aires, on September 30; and from the German Embassy in Buenos Aires, on the pro-German Press, on September 30.
