A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: Naval Headlines, covering Mediterranean shipping; from the Italian ambassador in Tokyo, giving Turkish views on the war, from September 10; from the Italian ambassador in Ankara, forwarding Afghan information on India, on September 23; from the Japanese minister in Sofia, describing a decline in Bulgarian-Soviet relations, on September 22; from the Japanese minister in Madrid, on impressions of Japanese-German estrangement, on September 26; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, of the military situation on the Russian Front, as of September 26; and from the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lisbon, relating a U.S. rebuff for a peace attempt by His Holiness the Pope, on September 28.
