This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of the Panzer Army's dispositions for coastal defence, on September 25; on the German police (SS): of activity in Europe, and deaths at Auschwitz, in September; this file also includes messages from the Japanese minister in the Vatican, relating rumours of Finnish-Soviet peace negotiations, on September 23; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, giving views on the Axis strategy for a long war, on September 23; from the Japanese minister in Berne, detailing rumours of a U.S. attempt to detach Italy from the Axis, on September 24; and from the Turkish ambassador in London, stating that Churchill promises military supplies to Turkey, from September 27.
