Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Southern Russian Front: of the German Air Force's (GAF's) orders on September 22 for Stalingrad; on North Africa: that Rommel is to confer with Kesselring and Cavallero in Rome on September 23; of German intelligence extracted from PoWs on the 8th Army's offensive, on September 22; Naval Headlines, covering Arctic convoys and supplies for Tobruk; from the Japanese minister in Sofia, describing optimistic German views on the Russian campaign, as of September 18; from the Turkish chargé in Vichy on Franco-U.S. relations, as of September 17; from the Turkish ambassador in Tokyo, relating rumours that Japan is proposing a separate peace between Germany and the Soviet Union, on September 19; and from the Italian minister in Kabul, giving Afghan information on the situation in India, as of September 19.
