A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean: that Gavdos, off Crete, is to be evacuated because the Fuehrer has forbidden inadequate garrisons, on September 19; Naval Headlines, covering the Arctic convoys and Mediterranean shipping; this file also includes messages from the Italian minister in Kabul on the situation in the Soviet Union, on September 18; from the Portuguese minister in Bucharest, on the internal situation in Roumania; from the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the minister in London, on German views on the war, as of September 18; and from the Turkish chargé in Vichy, on French views on Axis relations with Turkey and the loss of French influence in Syria, as of September 16.
