Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of the German Air Force's (GAF's) orders to the Italian Air Force (IAF) for September 2; of the Panzer Army's lack of fuel (not on the coversheet); and a GAF report for September 1; on the Southern Russian Front: a ground forces report for August 31; and messages from the Japanese Foreign Minister to the ambassador in Berlin, on Japan's need for shipping and steel on August 26; from the Turkish ambassador in Teheran, giving Polish information on the Caucasus and the situation in Iran, on August 29; and from the Japanese minister in Budapest, giving Ribbentrop's views on the war, on August 25.
