This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that an Axis div is to move up through minefields during the evening of August 30; a Panzer Army day report for August 28 including present and future fuel and ammunition requirements and the possibility of a serious supply crisis; a detailed statement of the Axis transport situation in the Mediterranean Sea and prospective difficulties, on August 29; and of contingency plans by the German Air Force (GAF) to combat the attempted relief of Malta by a large Allied convoy on August 30; and messages from the Portuguese minister in Tokyo about Japanese reinforcements in Manchuria; and that the Soviet ambassador was assured that Japan will not attack Russia, on August 28.
