Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that Rommel is ill and requests Guderian as his replacement on August 21; of Mussolini's approval being granted in principle to Rommel's planned offensive, on August 17; and of a renewed request from the Italian High Command for the evacuation of Bardia and Sollum, on August 23; on the Russian Front: that the 4th Panzer Army is making progress 20 miles from Stalingrad; that the 17th Army is renewing its attack on Tuapse and Novorossisk, on August 22; and a report for August 20 listing the progress of army groups and prisoners and materials captured.
