Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a report from the Panzer Army complaining of the inadequate supply situation, on August 3; that Mersa Matruh is considered to be of decisive importance by the Panzer Army, on August 6; on the Russian Front: a report for August 4 that Voroshilovsk has been taken, that the 48th Panzer Corps is east of Shutovo, and of violent fighting in the Don River bend; the Argentinian ambassador in Rome reports Ciano's optimism on August 3; the Chilean ambassador in Berlin comments on the situation in Europe and on the prospects for a second front, on August 4; the Spanish ambassador in London comments on British morale, on August 4; the Japanese ambassador in Berlin reports a German proposal for propaganda in India, on August 5; and Naval Headlines, covering the Emden being escorted to the approaches to Kiel, increased German motor torpedo boat activity in the Channel area, and that 8000 prisoners are awaiting transport from Tripoli to Italy.
