Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of an urgent request from the Panzer Army for increased unloading capacity in Tobruk harbour on August 3; of an urgent German request for coastal shipping space on July 31; that unloading at Tobruk was jeopardised by all-night air raids on August 1; of Panzer Army complaints about the supply situation, from August 1; of a list of armour, ordnance, and reinforcements intended for dispatch to North Africa in August; on the numbers of men and the quantities of supplies sent by air to German forces in July; on North Africa: that the entire stock of aviation fuel in Bardia was destroyed in an Allied air raid, on August 2; on the Russian Front: that the 4th Air Fleet is to support the 4th Army Group in a thrust over the River Kuban on August 5; the Bulgarian minister in Vichy reports French fears of a second front, on August 1; the Japanese ambassador in Berlin reports a German staff colonel's lecture on the war with Russia, on August 2; the Turkish ambassador in Rome reports Axis intentions in Africa, on August 1; the Turkish chargé in Kuibyshev relays a report of events on the Russian Front, on August 1; a German police report of August 1, that the whole of the police aviation organisation is to be transferred to the Luftwaffe on Goering's instructions; of instructions for the strictest enforcement of black-out measures throughout Germany; and Naval Headlines.
